Overview
A Town Plan is a guide for defining and accomplishing community goals and intentions, empowering communities to respond to change in ways that reflect their own needs, priorities, and values. Commission volunteers help develop a vision that represents that of the entire community.
Why Develop a Town Plan?
A plan can be used as a long-term guide to measure and evaluate public initiative that affect the future physical, social, and economic health of the community, allowing a town to qualify and receive priority for certain state and federal programs. The plan can help a community identify priorities for investments, such as establishing a capital improvement program, and directing other public and private local initiatives, such as farmland protection, housing development, or recreational facilities creation or improvement.
